Alphonse Davies pledged to donate their earnings during the event World Cup 2022 with the Canadian national team.

Alphonse Davies is a Liberian-born player born in a refugee camp in Ghana, where he spent five years before moving to Canada.

The 21-year-old said he wanted to show his gratitude by giving back to a community in need.

“Canada has welcomed me and my family and given us the opportunity to live a better life. All of this has allowed me to live my dream,” Davies tweeted on his personal Twitter account, @AlphonsoDavies, Tuesday (2/8/2022).

“It’s an honor to play for Canada and I want to pay them all back, so I’ve decided to donate the proceeds from the 2022 World Cup to charity,” Davies wrote in the same tweet.

Davies is the first footballer to become an ambassador for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

On one occasion, Davies admitted he knew how those who had to be kicked out of their own homes felt for security reasons.

Canada for the first time in 36 years after the 1986 edition will be back to compete in the World Cup final in Qatar next November.

The Maple Leafs begin their Group F campaign against Belgium on November 23 before meeting Croatia and Morocco.
