Body Shop bankrupt in Canada and the United States, this is the fate of Indonesia

JAKARTA – Cosmetics and skincare retail network The Body Shop Indonesia ensure continued business operations in Indonesia. The statement is the company's response to news of bankruptcies in the United States and Canada, as well as corporate restructuring in the United Kingdom.

As part of a global franchise, the company said all stores will remain open. “We remain open to serve you all,” he stressed.

According to a CNN report, The Body Shop will no longer operate in the United States starting March 1, 2024. As many as 33 of the total 105 stores in Canada will also be closed soon, while the rest will remain open.

This choice was made after the cosmetics and skincare company filed for liquidation in the court of New York, United States. This filing means that The Body Shop will sell certain assets to pay its creditors' debts, as well as to finance its operations.

Citing NBC News, Wednesday (13/3), the beauty salon confirmed that it had also proposed restructuring in its home country of England as well as in Canada. A Body Shop spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. According to The Guardian, around fifty sites in the United States were still in operation when the liquidation file was filed.
