Because of this activity, a cleric was later questioned by his followers about the law on compensation for content he created on social media. Mainly because the content he creates contains religious information or just Islamic quotes.
In response to this question, Sheikh Ahmad Kutty, a lecturer and Islamic scholar at the Islamic Institute of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, said that it is permissible for a person to earn money through social media. Even though the work done is devoted to da’wah and sharing authentic Islamic knowledge.
“You can receive social media money if your work is devoted to da’wah and sharing authentic Islamic knowledge from reliable sources attested by qualified scholars,” he said. About IslamTuesday (10/04/2022).
“If you are not careful and allow yourself to pass on questionable or unverified information, you will mislead and mislead others. They end up doing more harm than good,” he said. added.
He then quotes the words of the Islamic leader, Caliph Umar bin Abdul Aziz, who said, “Anyone who acts without (genuine) knowledge will do more harm than good.”
Therefore, if the project has started according to the guidelines above, then it is permissible to continue. However, the Sheikh reiterated that the work performed must also be in line with Islamic ethical teachings that govern the interaction of men and women.
