Bisnis.com, JAKARTA – Carlos Alcaraz surprises in the standings tennis player ATP Top 20, Monday (7/25/2022), after becoming the youngest player to break into the top five since Rafael Nadal.
Alcaraz cracked the top five after the teenager reached the Hamburg 2022 final last weekend.
The 19-year-old Spaniard is the youngest man to achieve the feat since compatriot Nadal broke into the top five in 2005 aged 18.
Alcaraz failed to win a clay-court title in Germany, losing to Italian youngster Lorenzo Musetti on Sunday, despite saving five match points.
Musetti moved up 31 places to 31 and will be seeded for the US Open, which begins on August 29.
Daniil Medvedev remains world number one, while the Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic in seventh place after the grass-court Grand Slam tournament went without points due to bans for players from Russia and Belarus.
