Jakarta (ANTARA) – Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Nadia Burger congratulated Indonesia on the successful presidency of the G20 and the G20 Summit in Bali last November.
“During the G20 (Summit), Canada fully supported the event. We support, of course, the priorities and agenda of the (Indonesian) G20 presidency,” Burger said in a special interview with ANTARA at his residence in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Foreign Minister Mélanie Jolie and Canadian Minister of International Trade, SMEs and Economic Development Mary Ng were present at the G20 summit in Indonesia.
“We are very pleased to see the communication produced after the summit, which contains a number of very important outcomes and which will help address a number of issues, such as global recovery from a pandemic, energy transition, digital transformation , the digital economy, energy security and food security,” Burger said.
Going forward, Burger said, his party will continue to see extraordinary results from ongoing summits.
He said India will be the next president of the G20 and under its leadership, Canada also wants to see ambitious goals.
Previously, Prime Minister Trudeau assessed that Indonesia was capable of leading the G20 amid difficult situations and political tensions, and had successfully pushed for a final agreement at the G20 summit in Bali.
The G20 summit was held on November 15-16, 2022 in Nusa Dua, Bali, and resulted in an agreement summarized in a document called the Bali Declaration.
The document, consisting of 52 paragraphs, contains a statement of the G20's common position on a number of issues related to food and energy security, global health architecture and digital transformation.
