There will be no second season for Brother Spencer. CTV has chosen not to air a second season of the Canadian drama series starring Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber.
A representative for Canadian television network CTV confirmed to Deadline that “the second season of The Spencer Sisters has not aired at this time.”
The CW picked up the series’ first season in 2023, ending its run in December.
Brother Spencer follows a mother and daughter duo who work together to open a private detective agency. It brings together crime novelist Victoria Spencer (Thompson) and her daughter Darby Spencer (Farber), who are mistaken for sisters as they face intriguing cases.
The film also stars Thomas Antony Olajide, Edward Ruttle, Husein Madhavji, Ayesha Mansur Gonsalves, Rodrigo Massa, Kaitlyn Leeb and Adam Hurtig.
Brother Spencer produced by eOne and Buffalo Gal Pictures and created by Alan McCullough (Blue Recruit). McCullough is co-showrunner alongside Jenn Engels (Image: Disclosure)Instead) and the duo executive produce alongside Jocelyn Hamilton and Tecca Crosby of eOne and Phyllis Laing and Jennifer Beasley for Buffalo Gal Pictures.
Thompson warned fans that the series would not return in an Instagram post in March.
I don’t think @ctv will get our attention,” Thompson wrote. “Thanks guys who enjoyed our little show!
“I’m sad we can’t enjoy more of #thespencersisters,” she continued. “I’m so excited to work in the beautiful city of #winnepeg and perform with the incredible @staceyfarber and the rest of our cast and crew. We felt a lot of joy acting together. I hope to make you laugh with the beautiful words of our writers.
He added: “When we arrived late on Friday evening I was worried. And it’s a strange time when companies are changing staff. Strike. And a recalculation of our activity. And I think we’ve just been caught in the crossfire of a lot of change. However, “our incredible leaders at @eone_tv fought the good fight!”
“It’s also fun to be on @thecw. With Better Times” (airing Wednesdays at 9/8c, October 13 – December 13, 2023), he concluded. “And we did it well. But unfortunately. Towards new frontiers.
