Refusing to see Putin’s face at G20, Canadian Prime Minister says this to Jokowi

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Prime Minister (PM) of Canada Justin Trudeau has refused the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin at the G20 summit in Bali. He even admitted that he expressed it directly to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

According to him, Putin’s presence will be a big problem for many countries, including Canada. The conversation will not be productive.

“Russia, with its illegal invasion of Ukraine, has disrupted economic growth for everyone in the world,” he said, quoted by Barrons citing news agencies.

“It is impossible to be a constructive partner in the way we handle the crisis created by Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine.”

Previously, the United States (US) and Australia also expressed the same. But China and Brazil oppose it.

Putin will attend the G20 summit on the Island of the Gods on October 30-31. This was stated by Russian Ambassador to Jakarta Lyudmila Vorobieva.

“So far he wants to come to the G20 summit,” Vorobieva said last week.

World leaders are expected. Russia’s insistence on being excluded from the G20 emerged following the country’s attack on Ukraine since February 24.
