1. Burned by the British
Quoting from thinkco.com, during the War of 1812, the United States burned down the Houses of Parliament in Ontario, Canada. Then, in 1814, the British Army retaliated by burning down most of Washington, including the White House.
The interior of the presidential building was destroyed and the exterior walls were charred. After the fire, President James Madison lived in Octagon House, which later became the headquarters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). President James Monroe moved into the partially rebuilt White House in October 1817.
2. The White House is not the name of this building
The White House was first built in 1800 and named the ‘Executive Mansion’. One hundred years later, in 1901 to be exact, President Theodore Roosevelt changed its name to “The White House,” aka “The White House,” because the exterior paint color of the building was all white.
3. The building is very tall

Additionally, other horrifying news was due to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill claiming to have seen an apparition of the ghost of Abraham Lincoln sitting by the fireplace.
