2022 Concacaf Zone World Cup Qualifiers: USA and Mexico follow Canada in Qatar

COMPAS.com – the United States of America (United States) and Mexico become the two new Concacaf representatives to qualify for the final World Cup 2022 Qatar. They follow Canada.

The United States and Mexico have just completed their last game in 2022 World Cup qualification Concacaf zone (North, Central America and Caribbean), Thursday (3/31/2022) WIB morning.

The United States had to swallow the bitter pill when they lost 2-0 to Costa Rica at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica.

Two of Costa Rica’s goals against the United States were scored by Juan Vargas (51′) and Anthony Contreras (59′).

Despite losing to Costa Rica, the United States national team still qualifies to automatically qualify for the finals Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Because Christian Pulisic et al were not moved from the top three places in the final standings Concacaf Zone World Cup Qualification.

The Stars & Stripes – the nickname of the United States national team – currently sit third in the final standings with a collection of 25 points from 14 matches.

The United States has the same number of points as Costa Rica, which is ranked fourth. However, USA (+11) are ahead of Costa Rica (+5) on goal difference.

Costa Rica still has a chance to qualify for the 2022 World Cup via the intercontinental qualifiers (against Oceania zone qualifier winner New Zealand).

Elsewhere, Mexico have also sealed tickets to Qatar 2022 following a 2-0 win over El Salvador at the Azteca Stadium.

The two winning goals for El Tri – the nickname of the Mexican national team – were scored by Uriel Antuna (17′) and Raul Jimenez (43′-p).

Mexico finished the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in the Concacaf zone by placing second in the final standings. Their points totaled 28 in 14 games.

The United States and Canada followed Canada, which qualified for the 2022 World Cup final for the first time a few days ago.

Canada secured a place in Qatar after a 4-0 win over Jamaica the previous week on Matchday 14 on Monday (28/3/2022).

As for the 14th week this Thursday morning, Canada lost 0-1 against Panama thanks to a goal from Gabriel Torres (49th).

Despite the loss, Canada was not shaken from the top of the standings. They have collected 28 points from 14 matches, only bettering Mexico on goal difference.
