Bisnis.comJAKARTA – President of China Xi Jinping scolded the prime minister CanadaJustin Trudeau is currently meeting at G20 summit in Bali, Indonesia.
Xi Jinping was furious with Trudeau because details of an earlier conversation between the two leaders leaked to the media.
“Everything we discussed has been leaked to the media, it’s inappropriate,” Xi told Trudeau, as reported by The Guardian, Thursday (11/17/2022).
Tredeau also responded to Xi’s rebuke and said it was a frank and open dialogue that he would continue to have.
“In Canada, we believe in free, open and frank dialogue. This is what we will continue to do. We will continue to work together constructively, but there will be things we will disagree on,” Trudeau said, interrupting Xi’s interpreter.
Xi, waving his hand, told Trudeau that the two countries must first create good conditions.
After their second conversation, Xi shook Trudeau’s hand and walked in the opposite direction, and the Canadian prime minister appeared smitten after the exchange.
Trudeau’s team said he and Xi also discussed the Russian invasion of Ukraine, North Korea and the significance of the COP15 biodiversity conference in December.
At the conference, China and Canada will welcome efforts to protect nature and fight climate change.
After a tense interaction between himself and the Chinese leader, Trudeau said not all conversations with Chinese leaders would be easy.
However, Trudeau added that Canada must be able to engage constructively, while seeking to challenge human rights and values that are important to Canadians.
