The G20 offers opportunities for sustainable economic growth

Nusa Dua: Canada is a country that vigorously protects its environment. In G20 Summit in Bali, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau stressed that this group should be an example for other countries in the fight against climate change.

“Economic meetings such as the G20 provide an opportunity to encourage cooperation on sustainable economic growth,” Trudeau said during a press conference in Bali, Wednesday, November 16, 2022.

According to Macron, the G20 countries know that Canada is a stable place to invest. “We are a reliable partner with raw materials and commercial access, as well as a skilled and ambitious workforce,” he said.

Canada, he said, is rapidly becoming a supplier of energy and technology that a net-zero world needs. He pointed out that Canada is focused on the entire supply chain, with electric vehicle workers in Ontario, batteries in Quebec, made from nickel and lithium in mines in Canada’s North.

“Thanks to the work our government is doing in partnership with the private sector, Canada now ranks second in the world in the battery supply chain,” he said.

“This is proof that the fight against climate change and the creation of quality and sustainable jobs go hand in hand”, he continued.

In terms of climate change, Trudeau said, supporting Indonesia to increase its adaptation efforts, especially in response to rising sea levels.

“Additionally, with partners in Indonesia, we will help protect or restore tens of thousands of hectares of tropical coastal vegetation,” he said. Keeping vegetation healthy, Trudeau continued, would prevent biodiversity loss.

He stressed that Canada will continue its work to protect nature and harness its strengths in the fight against climate change.
