Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Dutch national team won a resounding 4-0 victory as they hosted Canada in an international test match at De Kuip, Feyenoord on Friday morning WIB.

This match includes a series of preparations for Ronald Koeman’s troops in view of the final of the European Cup (Euro) 2024.

The four goals for the Oranje team were scored by Memphis Depay, Jérémie Frimpong, Wout Weghorst and Virgil van Dijk, as quoted on the official KNVB website.

The Netherlands dominated the game but failed to score in the first half. Koeman then made a number of changes after the break and brought on Virgil van Dijk, Wout Weghorst, Donyell Malen and Steven Bergwijn.

The Netherlands were only able to break the deadlock to make it 1-0 in the 50th minute through Depay’s goal after meeting Frimpong’s cross from the right.

Seven minutes later, it was Frimpong’s turn to score. While in the penalty box, the 23-year-old midfielder fired a shot that was blocked by Alphonso Davies.

However, the ball again fell to Frimpong, who this time managed to break through Dayne St. Clair’s goal with a curling shot. The score was 2-0.

The third Dutch goal was scored by substitute Weghorst in the 63rd minute. The Hoffenheim striker scored a goal just one minute after coming on the pitch.

He recovered the ball from Jerdy Schouten’s kick which was pushed back by Clair in the penalty area. The position became 3-0.

The Netherlands completed their performance with the fourth goal scored with a header from Virgil van Dijk in the 83rd minute.

The win is a good boost for the Netherlands ahead of the European Cup which begins on June 14. The Netherlands themselves still have a test schedule against Iceland on June 11.

The Dutch national team will be in Group D at Euro 2024. They will start against Poland, then France, before finishing the group stage against Austria.
