Jakarta (ANTARA) – South Korean manufacturers Hyundai and KIA will soon issue a recall (recall) of 122,000 vehicles caused by transmission and oil pump problems.
The company has also ordered a temporary halt to sales of affected vehicles, at least until the issue is resolved in accordance with federal regulations, CarsCoops said Sunday.
Overall, Hyundai had to recall 53,142 vehicles in the United States and 8,719 in Canada, while Kia had to recall 69,038 vehicles. Affected models include the 2021-2022 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2021-2022 Hyundai Sonata, 2021-2022 Hyundai Veloster N, and 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz, 2022 Hyundai Elantra N, and 2022 Hyundai Kona.
The issue also affects the 2021-2022 Kia Sorento and the 2021-2023 Kia K5.
The main problem stems from the electric oil pump built into the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The oil pump is suspected to have an internal defect, namely a weld that is not solid and can come loose.
Kia and Hyundai are not yet sure if the damage led to the accident.
