Sharing Legacy Month with other Canadians for Muslim contributions.
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NOVA SCOTIA — Muslims in Nova Scotia are celebrating the local government’s recognition of October’s designation as Islamic Heritage Month. This Canadian province joins other provinces across the country that have celebrated the event for years.
The decision, approved only last week, is seen as a step forward for the Muslim community in Nova Scotia. It shows the younger generation that they are part of society.

Prior to the ruling, students at the Maritime Muslim Academy spent the past month studying and educating others about Islamic heritage or culture. “To be comfortable speaking their language and dressing the way they want, sharing their culture and being proud of who they are,” he added.
Inspiration for the next generation
For the students, the decision highlights acceptance of Islamic culture and inspiration for more works to showcase their religion. “I feel like a lot of people don’t know about Islam and they make wrong assumptions, whether it’s a stereotype or some other reason, I feel like if we teach them, we’ll dominate this stereotype,” said Ismalli Omar, who is a student. at the Muslim Maritime Academy.
