TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Minister of Communication and IT Johnny plate met the Ukrainian Ambassador to Indonesia, Vasyl Hamianin. The meeting discussed cooperation between Indonesia and Ukraine for the development of digital talents, infrastructure and cybersecurity.

“We hope communication will be reopened, so that we can rekindle the potential for cooperation,” Johnny said during a bilateral meeting, at Kominfo Building, Central Jakarta on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.

Johnny said the cooperation between the two countries will be done remotely using digital technology. Previously, this cooperation seemed to have stopped because of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

According to Johnny, Indonesia and Ukraine are exploring discussions to reactivate the cooperation that had been established between the two countries. The objective is that the two countries can together strengthen their digital side.

Jhonny highlighted the potential for collaboration in the digital realm that could happen through virtual meetings and discussions, or through finalizing design concepts that could be shared remotely. “Previously, we discussed the potential for cooperation between Indonesia and Ukraine, especially in the field of digital talentwhether for ICT downstream infrastructure neither cyber securitysaid Johnny.

According to Jhonny, the potential for cooperation can be established in the near future. One of them is through student exchange.

“One thing that should be done quickly is the exchange of students, maybe Indonesian students currently cannot come to Ukraine due to changes in the geopolitical situation. However, students and future experts from Ukraine can study in Indonesia,” he said.

Jhonny continued, student exchange is a form of community relations.from person to person) which is important for building relationships. As for the ambassador Ukraine, Vasyl, said that many points can be developed from the relationship between Indonesia and Ukraine. He said the cooperation would be very important because information technology has become the key to a country’s progress.
