Joe Biden-Xi Jinping to come, Putin-Zelensky provisional

Denpasar, CNBC Indonesia – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has confirmed that 17 heads of state have confirmed their attendance at the G20 summit in Bali. As we know, the G20 summit will be held on November 15 and 16, 2022.

Among those present were United States (US) President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping. “Yeah, sure 17,” Jokowi said at Ngurah Rai Grand Forest Park (Tahura), Denpasar City, Bali on Tuesday (11/8/2022).

So what about Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky?

Jokowi himself was actually expecting the arrival of the two heads of state at the G20 summit in Bali. However, both assure that they will come, if the situation in the two countries is more favorable than it is at present.

“A few days ago I also called, talked on the phone with President Putin and President Zelensky. He said he would be there if conditions allowed,” Jokowi said.

Jokowi stressed that the presence of heads of state and government at the G20 summit in Bali this time was an honor. Given the unfavorable global conditions.

“I think in a normal position, it’s normal for 17-18 people to attend, it’s an abnormal position, the world is very difficult, all countries are very difficult, if the attendance reaches that number, I think it’s is also very good, very good,” he said.

It should be noted that the G20 is a multilateral cooperation forum made up of 19 major countries and the European Union (EU). The G20 represents more than 60% of the world’s population, 75% of world trade and 80% of world GDP.

Members of the G20 are South Africa (South Africa), United States (United States), Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, South Korea (South Korea), Russia, France, China, Turkey and EU. This means that future leaders should come from these countries and from the EU.

Besides them, the G20 summit also invited a number of other countries, including Spain (permanent guest). United Arab Emirates (UAE), President of ASEAN (Cambodia), President of NEPAD (Rwanda), President of the African Union (Senegal). Moreover, since April 2023, President Jokowi has also invited Ukraine.
