Gresik student Azzahra Aqilani represents Indonesia at UNEP Canada

Gresik (– Class XI 5 student of SMA Muhammadiyah 10 Gresik, Aeshinina Azzahra Aqilani represented Indonesia at the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) conference held in Ottawa, Canada.

Before leaving, Aeshnina Azzahra Aqilani was first received by Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani (Gus Yani) in his office. Later in the conference, Aeshnina Azzahra discussed the Global Plastic Treaty, or a global agreement to overcome the plastic crisis.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Gresik, Fandi Akhmad Yani (Gus Yani) supports Nina’s action to encourage developed countries not to throw plastic waste on Indonesian territory, especially in Gresik.

He added that at the UNEP event, Nina hopes to promote the Gresik District Government’s efforts to reduce single-use plastic.

“The Gresik District Government already has regional regulations on the reduction of single-use plastic, the construction of TPST and zero waste villages in Gresik with the aim of reducing pollution from plastic waste,” he said. -he adds.

He also gave an example that in OPD activities, the Gresik Regency Government has maximized the reduction of single-use plastic food packaging.
