Two first-half goals scored within a minute by striker Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gave Munich a 3-0 lead.

Bayern, who were already 3-0 up at half-time, had to endure a tense final when defender Dayot Upamecano saw a handball in second-half stoppage time as Hertha struggled to equalize in downtime.

But referee Bastian Dankert ruled there was no foul in Bayern’s penalty area. Bayern therefore also sealed their eighth consecutive victory in all competitions.

“It was a tense match. We were leading 3-0 but we didn’t create many clear chances,” Nagelsmann told SID TV channel, as quoted by AFP.

Nagelsmann told a post-match press conference that defender Alphonso Davies had ‘at least a torn muscle’ and needed further analysis, leaving the 22-year-old in doubt for Canada at the Cup of the world 2022.

Hertha manager Sandro Schwarz hailed his side’s performance in therapy, admitting he was annoyed he couldn’t get a single point from the game.

Jamal Musala put Bayern ahead in the 12th minute, before Choupo-Moting’s quick brace gave the visitors a 3-0 lead.

Dodi Lukebakio’s 40th-minute volley saw Hertha pull one back before Davie Selke netted a 45th-minute penalty.

Bayern are temporarily top of the Bundesliga table before Union Berlin have a chance to overtake them again if they win against Leverkusen on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund striker Youssouffa Moukoko is set to feature for Germany at the 2022 World Cup after scoring twice in Dortmund’s 3-0 win over Bochum.

The 17-year-old striker opened the scoring after just eight minutes with a superb solo effort after snatching the ball from Bochum defender Ivan Ordets before curling in a curling effort from the box.

Another teenager, Gio Reyna, scored Dortmund’s second goal after converting his first Bundesliga penalty in the 12th minute after Donyell Malen was knocked down in the box.

Moukoko scored the second goal in the extra minutes of the first half after beating Bochum goalkeeper Manuel Reimann.

In Augsburg, Frankfurt returned for the second time in a week when goals from Sebastian Rode and Dortmund loanee Ansgar Knauff canceled out Mergim Berisha’s first-minute strike.

The 2-1 scoreline was the same as Frankfurt’s midweek win over Sporting Lisbon which took them to the Champions League round of 16.

At Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku continues his bid for a place in France’s squad for the France 2022 World Cup after scoring twice in a 3-1 win in the first away win from Leipzig of the season.

Nkunku has now scored 11 goals in 13 games this season, keeping him top of the Bundesliga goalscoring list.

Wolfsburg’s recent revival continued at home against Mainz who won 3-0.

Wolfsburg, who are winless in their first five games of the season, are now unbeaten in their last eight games.
