Fernando Alonso: Double podium goal in Canada is too far-fetched

F1 News: Fernando Alonso says Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll’s desire for a double podium at the Canadian GP is somewhat impossible to achieve.

This weekend’s Canadian GP is a special race for Aston Martin. Indeed, one of their riders, Lance Stroll, and his father, Lawrence, who is the owner of the team, come from the land of ice shards.

Lawrence, who was so confident, asked Fernando Alonso and Lance to present the podium there.

“I’m very confident. I’m sure this car will be very strong at the Montreal circuit, very suitable for our car, so I’m really looking forward to going home and I’m really looking forward to having a great race,” did he declare. as cited by Reuters.

Alonso then responded to his boss’s request. He believes that a double podium is a bit difficult to achieve in Montreal, given that Red Bull Racing’s dominance is still difficult to match.

“You never know, but it’s an aggressive goal for the weekend,” said the Spaniard.

“But we know Lawrence. “His ambitions are still very high and we will try to make him happy and proud at his home Grand Prix,” he continued.

After experiencing the Spanish GP with disappointing results, Fernando Alonso is determined to beat Mercedes with the new AMR23 car upgrade.

“I think it will be a good weekend, but you never know until you get on the track. We also had expectations in Barcelona and we didn’t perform well in that race. Let’s see,” said the two-time F1 world champion.

“We also have new parts on the car for this race. Depending on the weather we will try to test and validate it and hopefully be a little more competitive than Barcelona.

“(Here you) have to have clear confidence in the car. It’s a semi-urban circuit, we are so close to the walls that we also have to go over the curbs. It’s a very bumpy circuit. The weather usually plays an important role here, as it will again this weekend. Experience always helps – it was his 17th or 18th Canadian Grand Prix [untuk saya] so that always helps,” concluded Alonso.
