Daria Saville missed an event in Cincinnati because of Bianca Andreescu

Ligaosport.com –

Tennis News: Just two days before the start of the Cincinnati Open, Bianca Andreescu withdrew from the tournament and Daria Saville was affected by the decision.

Canadian tennis player Andreescu should have faced world number 29 Camila Giorgi in the first round of the Cincinnati Open (Western & Southern Open). The tournament organizers have announced that the world number 53 will now be replaced by a qualifier or a lucky loser. The Canadian tennis player’s last minute withdrawal was unfortunate for the Australian who did not compete in the WTA 1000 level tournament.

Reacting to the news, the 28-year-old tennis player took to social media and said such things happen often.

“I don’t even get mad, but yeah, it happens all the time,” Saville wrote.

In another tweet, the world number 73 explained that if Andreesccu withdraws before qualifying begins, the Australian will replace the Canadian in the main draw.

“If someone from the main draw of the match withdraws before the start of the qualifying match, then the player on the substitute list will take their place. The match starts today at 10am, so it must be before that. And I was the first substitute,” Saville said.

However, shortly after posting the two tweets, the Australian national updated fans on his participation in the W60 Bronx, NY Tournament 2022, an ITF event held from August 15-21 in New York.

“No problem. I’ll be playing in the Bronx,” Saville wrote.

Meanwhile, Andreescu has won three titles in his career so far and all three titles are prestigious titles. Along with titles at Indian Wells and the 2019 Canadian Open, she surprisingly managed to beat Serena Williams in the US Open final that same season.

Aiming for a second Canadian Open title of the week, the hosts started with a win over Daria Kasatkina and followed that up with a win over Alize Cornet. But his rhythm was stopped in the third round against Zheng Qinwen.

Andreescu hasn’t been able to add to his trophy collection since winning the 2019 US Open after battling injuries and mental health.
