Canada successfully beat El Salvador 2-0 in the qualifiers World Cup 2022 CONCACAF zone, Thursday (3/2) morning WIB. Here is the standings for the 2022 CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.
Canada picked up an important victory against El Salvador at Cuscatlan Stadium. Two goals that guaranteed the three points for John Herdman’s men were scored by Atiba Hutchinson in the 66th minute and Jonathan David (90+3′).
The victory continues Canada’s unbeaten streak throughout the CONCACAF qualifying zone for the 2022 World Cup.
In the first qualifying round, Canada swept the entire game with four wins. Automatically, Canada qualified from Group B with first-tier status.
In the second qualifying round, Canada again continued the positive trend of the last 11 games. The record of seven wins plus four draws comes on top of achieving a total of 15 matches unbeaten in qualifying.
Currently, Alphonso Davies and friends lead the CONCACAF zone standings with a collection of 25 points. They also became the most productive side with a collection of 19 goals and conceded only five times.
Canada leads the second-place United States with 21 points. A convincing 3-0 victory against Honduras on Thursday morning (3/2) WIB slightly secured the position of Gregg Berhalter’s side to take the lead against third-placed Mexico.
Mexico are now tied with the United States who pocket 21 points. Mexico are four points ahead of Panama, who sit in fourth place with 17 points.
