Canadian Visa: Ontario Canada Releases Provincial Nominee Program Allocation for 2024

Canada’s Ontario has received an allocation of 21,500 applications for its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) in 2024, CIC News reported.

This number represents an increase of 5,000 nominations from 16,500 in 2023.

Ontario secured more allocations after a meeting last November in which immigration ministers from across Canada met with federal Minister Marc Miller to discuss the effects of immigration on their regions.

Each province and territory (except Quebec and Nunavut) receives an annual allocation of applications for its PNP from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), although not all provinces make their allocations public .

The increase in allocations this year is not unexpected, says CIC News.

At the November FMRI meeting, provinces and territories asked for more say in the selection of immigrants and more places for their programs. Canada now welcomes 1,10,000 new permanent residents via PNP in 2024, more than via Federal Express Entry. In March 2023, in a similar meeting, the FMRI approved a multi-year plan for PNP allocations. This allows provinces to plan local infrastructure to support both current residents and newcomers. Ontario has not announced any theoretical allocation for the next two years.Provincial immigration results from March 29 to April 5

British Columbia
On April 3, British Columbia invited 83 candidates to four draws of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP).

The largest draw was general and invited 30 candidates divided into five categories. Skilled workers, skilled workers (EEBC option) and international graduates required a minimum score of 130, CIC News says.

Alberta
The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) recently invited 48 candidates from the Dedicated Healthcare Pathway with job offers in Alberta. This pathway is aligned with Express Entry, requiring applicants to have a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.

In this draw, candidates had to obtain a CRS score of 300 or more to be eligible. This is the eighth draw for this category this year.

Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island issued 66 invitations on April 4 to Labor and Express Entry candidates employed in the health, manufacturing and early childhood education sectors. This drawing marks the first of the month for PEI PNP and the sixth this year, according to CIC News.
