By winning the Canadian Open, Lakshya Sen rises to 12th in the world

Badminton News: With his sensational win at the Canada Open World Tour Super 500 tournament last week, Indian badminton star Lakshya Sen jumped seven places to 12th in the latest BWF world rankings released on Tuesday (11/ 7).

Lakshya Sen, 21, delivered a badminton masterpiece as he beat All England champion Li Shi Feng in straight games 21-18, 22-20 in a thrilling top-of-the-table clash on Sunday in Calgary, Canada, to clinch his second BWF Super 500 title.

With 54,901 points in his kitty, Sen is the second highest-ranked Indian after HS Prannoy, who fell one place to ninth in the world with 67,677 points. Sen is the best player in the latest rankings.

Finalist at the 2023 Canadian Open, Li Shi Feng also climbed three places to rank seventh in the world.

Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen still leads the men’s singles sector with 101,205 points, followed by Indonesia’s Anthony Sinisuka Ginting with 95,661 points and Japan’s Kodai Naraoka with 62,063 points.

In 4th place in the world are a young Thai star, Kunlavut Vitidsarn with 74,898 points, and a Chinese player, Shi Yu QI, ranked 5th in the world with 70,554 points.

Former world champion from Singapore, Loh Kean Yew is ranked 6th in the world with 69,882 points, followed by Li Shi Feng with 69,448 points.
