jpnn.comJAKARTA – Ambassador of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia Rieke Diah Pitaloka conveyed the great ideas that President Soekarno has always fought for at the Bandung-Belgrade-Havana Conference on World History and Perspective at the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI) Building, Jakarta, Monday (7/11/2022).

In the event entitled “What dreams, what challenges, what projects for a global future?” that, Rieke confirmed President Sukarno always prioritizes the mission of peace and justice in its political journey. Therefore, the Bandung-Belgrade-Havana Conference on World History and Prospect is linked to the Asia-Africa Conference.

“The Bandung-Belgrade-Havana conference is a precious opportunity as well as an honor for me, speaking in front of representatives from France, India, China, Canada, Brazil, Uruguay, Canada, Burkina Faso and Serbia Greetings to the participants, historians, humanists, academics, representatives of the leaders of state institutions, regional leaders and community organizations, political organizations and colleagues from the media Fellowship greetings to all the participants who attend in person or online, who come from 42 countries from the continents of Asia, Africa, America, Australia and Europe,” Rieke said as he began his speech.

Furthermore, he said that the conference is still linked with the Asian-African Conference (KAA). History records, he continued, that the 1955 Afro-Asian Conference brought together 200 delegates, who came from 29 countries and produced a final communiqué, namely Dasa Sila Bandung, which was very inspiring and became a milestone in the history of the world.

“Ten years after the conference was held, 41 countries in Asia and Africa have declared their independence. Today, the countries of Asia and Africa have become independent. But there is a historic debt of independence to fight for, namely the independence of Palestine. Personally, on this occasion, I also express my attitude to continue to fight for Palestinian independence!”

On this occasion, he also claimed to have received important clues in the 61-year-old archives, in particular the archives of Bung Karno’s speech on his return from Belgrade, September 21, 1961. In the archives, Bung Karno said that the Belgrade conference was a conference of countries that declared themselves ‘No’. Countries that are not linked to the two great political power blocs of the 20th century, namely America and the Soviet Union.

“We are all engaged. Committed to what? Committed to the struggle for peace, committed to the struggle to destroy imperialism and colonialism, committed to the struggle to provide a happy life for our respective peoples,” Rieke said, mimicking Bung Karno’s speech.

However, he continued, the current pattern of international relations has placed the world in a volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous (VUCA) situation. According to him, this fact has been validated by the World Bank which has affirmed the need for “ethics in action” in the international political economy, and the World Economic Forum has declared that the world is facing social polarization.
