Ongbamrungphan’s Fashion Is Unstoppable at the 2024 Canada Open

Badminton News: The YONEX Canada Open 2024 badminton competition, which is a World Tour Super 500 event, will be contested for a total prize fund of USD 420,000, or approximately Rs 6.7 billion, in Calgary, Canada, in the early hours of Thursday, July 4, 2024.

In the women’s singles category in the first round, third seed Busanan Ungbamrungphan, also ranked 19th in the world, met Koli Huang, ranked 217th in the world from Canada, managing to win the match with a crushing score of 21-8, 21-8.

Busanan Ongbamrungphan has qualified for the round of 16 of the 2024 Canada Open and will face Indian world number 74 Thanya Heman.

In the men’s singles category, Kantapon Wangcharoen, ranked 41st in the world, met Huang Yukai, ranked 75th in the world and originally from Taiwan.

In this match, Kantaphon had to exert his strength for 3 games before turning the situation around and narrowly winning with a score of 17-21, 21-13 and 21-14.

Kantaphon Wangcharoen has advanced to the second round to meet Koki Watanabe, the sixth seed and world number 18 of Japan.

Peeratchai and Phakphon then advanced to the second round to meet Christopher and Matthew Grimley, the Scottish duo ranked No. 45 in the world.

In the mixed doubles category, world No. 31 ranked Pakphon Teerarattansakul and “Jomjam” Phathaimas Muanwong defeated the United States’ Arthur Lee and Caitlin Nguow, ranked No. 530 in the world, in straight matches 21-17, 21-10.

Phakphon and “Jomjam” Phathimas have advanced to the second round and will next face Chang Kochi and Lin Yenyu, world number 342 from Taiwan.
