“Canada Goose’s fabulous down-free winter jacket keeps people warm while leaving vulnerable birds in peace,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA honors Canada Goose for its stylish vegan jacket and urges shoppers to choose only feather-free, animal-friendly clothing this winter.”
Other winners PETA Fashion Awards 2023 include Gap for Most Vegan Company, Versace for Hottest Vegan Leather Product, Max Mara for Best Vegan Suede Basic Product, and Gucci for Best Luxury Product. H&M was named Villain of the Year for its sale of cashmere and leather, and Reformation was named Greenwasher of the Year for touting its sustainability agenda while selling primarily animal-derived materials that actively harm the planet.
A recent PETA Asia investigation at a Vietnamese down supplier revealed that ducks had their throats slit while still conscious and that the birds were seen moving for at least a minute afterwards. PETA Asia also investigated “responsible” breeding farms in Russia, where a worker was seen stretching the necks of geese on a stump and repeatedly hitting them with a dull ax while the birds screamed and struggled .
PETA – whose motto says, in part, that “animals don’t belong to us” – opposes speciesism, a human supremacist worldview.
