Celine Dion gives an update on her health in a new interview: “I work very hard”

Celine Dion says it’s too early to say if she’ll ever return to the stage, but she’s not waiting to find out.

The Quebec pop superstar appears in the May edition of Vogue France, offering new insight into how she deals with a rare neurological disorder that has unexpectedly sidelined her music career.

She says that while she listens to her body, her willpower drives her to work “really hard” so she can perform live again one day.

Dion made public in December 2022 her diagnosis of stiff person syndrome, a progressive condition that can cause muscle rigidity and painful spasms.

All of his concert tour dates were canceled within a month.

Dion told Vogue France that at the start of her diagnosis, she asked, “Why me?” and “Is it my fault?” but lately she has turned to a more focused approach that involves an intense five-day program of sports, physical and vocal therapy.

“I don’t want to wait,” she told the magazine. “It’s morally hard to live from day to day. It’s hard, I work very hard and tomorrow will be even harder.”

She added: “For me, I have two choices. Either I train like an athlete and work really hard, or I switch off and it’s over, I stay at home, listen to my songs , I stand in front of my mirror and sing to myself. I choose to work with my whole body and soul, from head to toe, with a medical team.

I am: Celine Diona documentary that follows Dion’s recent health issues, will debut on Prime Video on June 25.
