Badminton player Josephine Wu strengthens Canada at 2023 Sudirman Cup/Photo/Badminton Pan America
Wu was born on January 20, 1995 in Edmonton, Canada. He has been playing badminton since the age of six and has been part of the Canadian national team since 2011.
Wu began her professional career in 2008. She played women’s singles, then moved to women’s doubles and now plays mixed doubles with Dong Adam.
Wu/Dong faced Indonesian pair Adnan/Nita in the opening match of Group B of the 2023 Sudirman Cup at the Suzhou Olympic Center, Suzhou, China, Monday (15/5/2023) morning WIB.
Wu/Gong did not move against the Indonesian duo and surrendered with a score of 20-22, 15-21 in 38 minutes.
During her career, Wu won a bronze medal in the women’s singles event at the 2017 Pan American Badminton Championships.
She has also won championship titles in various national and international tournaments, such as the women’s singles title at the 2017 Canadian Open Badminton Championships.
In addition to playing badminton, Wu also holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of British Columbia and is currently completing a master’s degree in public policy studies.
Wu is also involved in several charitable projects and is a youth ambassador for several organizations in Canada focused on sports and education.
