The Indonesian national badminton team (timnas) continues its fight to reach the semi-finals of the Daihatsu Indonesia Masters 2023 with three representatives.
It was the men’s singles of Jonatan Christie and Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo, while the men’s doubles team of Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin managed to qualify for the semi-finals which will take place in Istora Senayan, Jakarta, Saturday.
PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. or BNI consistently supports the Indonesian national team by sponsorships at the Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI). In an official statement in Jakarta on Saturday, BNI General Secretary Okki Rushartomo Budiprabowo expressed his pride for the Indonesian national team, which fought hard to reach the semi-finals.
“The whole BNI extended family is rejoicing because the Indonesian team made it to the semi-finals and hope to make it to the final and win,” Okki said.
Men’s doubles Leo/Daniel became the first Indonesian representative to advance to the 2023 Indonesia Masters semi-finals, after defeating Japanese doubles, Keiichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi.
Leo/Daniel’s success was followed by Jonathan Christie in the men’s singles sector. Jojo, as he is affectionately known, managed to beat Lakshya Sen from India. In the semi-finals, Jojo will face Shi Yuqi of China, while the other men’s singles, Chico will advance to the semi-finals after defeating Brian Yang of Canada.
Okki continued, so far BNI’s support for badminton has been shown by sponsorships at PBSI. Support is provided for the education and development of athletes and infrastructure to continue to support the creation of more young athletes who excel on the world stage.
Going forward, BNI is committed to continue supporting the development and mentoring of the badminton branch by PBSI to continue to carve out various historic global achievements in the future.
“We are also very grateful because BNI had the opportunity to continue contributing to the development of badminton in Indonesia, which is still registering global achievements,” he said.

In the semi-finals, Jonatan Christie will face Shi Yu Qi (China), Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo will face Angus Ng Ka Long (Hong Kong), while the men’s doubles team will face Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin against Takuro Hoki/ Yugo Kobayashi (Japan, seed 2).
