RIAU24.COM – Canada’s immigration backlog has fallen to more than 2.2 million from 2.4 million last month, according to new data released by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
With this, the inventory of nationalities reached 3,14,630 applicants on November 30, up from 3,31,401 on October 31, CIC News reported.
Permanent residence supply totaled 5,12,342 as of December 2, compared to 5,06,421 as of November 3.
The biggest reduction was seen in the provision of temporary shelters, which reached 14,16,125 people on December 2, compared to 15,37,566 people on November 3.

As of December 2, there were 43,326 applications for the Express Entry program pending, an increase of more than 3,500 since November 3, which totaled 39,589.
Inventories for all family class immigration programs fell slightly to 1,27,091 from Nov. 3, which was 1,28,112.
Spousal and partner sponsorship programs are one of the largest inventories among all industries, at 62,106, a minimal increase from Nov. 3.
The Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) has an inventory of 53,770 people against 55,653 pending in November.
Data from September 30 shows that there were 1.5 million applications in the backlog, which means IRCC has removed over 350,000 applications from the backlog.
This comes as the number of inventory applications has increased for permanent residency, reports CIC News.

The IRCC said that between January and October 2022, they issued 4.3 million final decisions for permanent residents, temporary residents and citizenship, compared to 2.3 million final decisions during the same period l last year.
The Canadian citizenship agency says it wants to have a backlog of less than 50% across all business lines by the end of March 2023.
To achieve this, IRCC began the transition to a 100% digital application for most permanent residence programs on September 23.
It also hopes to make all citizenship applications digital by the end of this year, including those from children under 18.
