Tennis News: Canadian tennis player, Felix Auger Aliassime recently shared his joy for the accomplishments he has achieved during the 2022 season.
The Canadian tennis player has been pretty hot this season, including winning three consecutive titles in Florence, Antwerp and Basel. The winning streak finally ended in the semi-finals of the Paris Masters.
The tennis player who is currently taking part in the ATP Finals for the first time in his career, started the season-ending tournament less than convincingly after losing to Norwegian national Casper Ruud. But he quickly recovered by beating tennis player who won 22 Grand Slam titles, Rafael Nadal, his first victory against a Spaniard. He will now face American tennis player Taylor Fritz in the final match of the group stage which will put one last group ticket on the line for the semi-finals.
“It’s a great satisfaction,” exclaims Auger Aliassime. “This season was maybe even my first season where I can really say that I achieved all my goals and even better. When I look back on the whole season and think to myself that I won a few titles, that I qualified for the end of the season, that I am now world No. 6, I feel very happy.
In the same interview, he said it was an honor to play in the ATP Finals. He stated that participating in the tournament has been his dream ever since he found out about the tournament.
“I always dreamed, I watched this tournament since I discovered that this tournament existed. This tournament is truly magical because you said there are only eight tennis players in the world who can play this tournament every season. To see how tough and wild this competition is, it is truly an honor for me to be able to play this tournament for the first time,” added Auger Aliassime.
He also expressed his desire to participate in the tournament on several occasions saying that his first appearance in the tournament meant a lot to him and made him very proud.
“Of course, I hope to do more in the future, but my first participation means a lot to me. It’s something I dreamed of and recently became my goal. And now that I have achieved this objective, it makes me very proud and also for the people around me, including my family and my team,” said Auger Alissime.
