Bisnis.comJAKARTA – Indonesia is hosting the Summit or G20 Summit often in the spotlight, including foreign media, including Politicio of the United States (US).
Politicio report Tuesday (11/15/2022), President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is called daring to put pressure on the countries that are in the G20 forum to show flexibility and not put pressure on Moscow.
Senior Indonesian politicians reportedly conveyed to leaders of the United States, Europe, Australia, Canada and Japan who had been pressured to make concessions on the extent to which they could criticize Russia over the war in Ukraine.
Diplomats have told Western leaders to show flexibility and consider using less harsh rhetoric in order to be represented at the Bali summit by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov representing President Vladimir Putin.
Jokowi personally considers it a success if the G20 statement can be finalized. He also repeatedly pointed out that currently Indonesia is leading the most difficult G20 ever due to the war between Russia and Ukraine which had quite a big impact.
Apart from that, Jokowi also tried to avoid the expression of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who did not consider Russia considering that “the G20 would become the G19”.
As is known, Indonesia itself adheres to the principle of “freedom and activity”, which in foreign policy means being free to determine attitudes and policies towards international issues and not binding a priori to a world power while being active.
