Surabaya Fishermen Organize Flash Mob Action in Support of G20 Summit in Bali

TIMESINDONESIA, SURABAYA – A number of Surabaya fishermen staged a quick parade or flash mob as a form of support for the implementation of G20 Summit in Bali. The event took place around Suramadu BridgeThursday (27/10/2022).

They brought a number of supporting posters and banners with various scriptures. Such as Surabaya Fishermen Ready to Support G20 Summit in Bali, Surabaya Fishermen Supporting G20 Summit for Advanced Indonesia, and G20 Summit Fishermen Contribution to Indonesia. This flashmob involved around fifty fishermen.

These fishermen come from the district of Kenjeran. They are members of Fishermen’s Association under the DPC of All Indonesian Fishermen’s Association (HNSI) Surabaya. A total of 255 members consist of 5 Joint Business Groups (KUB).

They hope the G20 summit will also have an impact on the well-being of fishermen who cast nets into the ocean every day.

Event coordinator Mustofa said this activity is also a form of support and a sense of pride for HNSI Surabaya for Indonesia’s election as the host of the G20 summit in Bali on November 15. 2022.

“Our hope is that together with the G20 in Bali, it will revive the global economy and impact the well-being of the fishing community,” said DPC Treasurer HNSI Surabaya.

As we know, the G20 summit will bring together 19 countries and one economic region, namely the European Union. Comprised of South Africa, United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Indonesia, United Kingdom, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Russia, France, China and Turkey.

With the theme “Recover Together, Recover Stronger”, at the G20 summit, Indonesia invites the whole world to work together to recover from the pandemic and build the world in a sustainable way.

Indonesia’s nomination for the 2022 G20 Presidency was announced two years ago, during the G20 summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 21-22, 2020.

The handover procession took place a year ago during the G20 summit held in Rome, Italy on October 30-31, 2021. This is the first time that Indonesia has been entrusted with hosting the G20 Summit since its formation in 1999.

This is something special for this country, because by choosing Indonesia as the host of the G20, it has the opportunity to encourage the realization of policies that can trigger the global economic recovery.

In addition, the implementation of the G20 in Indonesia is also able to provide significant economic, social and political benefits for the country.

On the way to the G20 summit, Indonesia tried to formulate and define a number of agendas and a series of activities. At least there are about 150 meetings to be held in 19 cities across Indonesia.

The series of main agendas of the Indonesian G20 Presidency include Summits, Ministers’ Governors and Central Banks (Financial Track), Sherpa-Level Meetings (Sherpa Track), Deputy-Level Meetings, Working Group Level Meetings, Engagement Group Level Meetings, Events programs, as well as the Road to G20 Indonesia 2022 program.

The subject that is at the center of the G20 this time is the Financial Track and Sherpa Track meetings. During the Sherpa Track meeting, several important issues will be raised, including agriculture, anti-corruption, digital economy, sustainable energy, investment, employment, health, environment, development and trade.

Meanwhile, at the financial track meeting, a number of issues raised will revolve around the topic of fiscal, fiscal and monetary policy. Six priority agendas will be discussed during the meeting of the financial track, namely the exit strategy for economic recovery, the search for ways to overcome the scarring effect of the economic crisis, digital payment systems, sustainable finance , financial inclusion and international taxation.
