REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, OTTAWA – The Halifax Food Bank located at the Madni Mosque on Jalan Gibbet, Canada has a long history of helping thousands of people. Since its launch two years ago at the Madni Mosque, the food bank has been open daily. But recently a number of Halifax Food Bank volunteers at the Madni Mosque were verbally assaulted by unidentified people.
“Unfortunately, earlier today our supervisor was the target of a torrent of abuse from just one person. This is completely unacceptable. We will not tolerate any form of harassment or foul language directed at our amazing team,” Halifax said in a statement. Halifax Courier on Tuesday (18/10/2022).
“A selfless team, who go above and beyond to ensure no one goes to bed hungry in our community. The actions of a few will not harm the good nature of the vast majority of people in our community,” he said.
The Halifax Community Food Bank located at the Madni Mosque on Gibbet Street in Halifax is open seven days a week. It remains open even during extreme weather conditions. The team of volunteers donates food, but they have also been frequently asked for other forms of assistance such as providing furniture and newborn necessities. Starting November 10, volunteers will distribute hot meals every Thursday, 30 minutes before sunset.
