JERNIH.ID, Jakarta – The 59th Conference of the International Association of Women Policewomen (IAWP) was held September 12-16, 2022 in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

The IAWP conference which was organized by the National Police last year was held in Labuhan Bajo so the 59th conference was held in Canda.

The conference brought together approximately 70 Niagara Falls Ontario Canada with the implementation of Adalag Ontario Women in Law Enforcement (OWLE), Niagara Regional Police Service and Hamilton Police Service.

The 59th conference brought together 70 countries and 900 participants.
The National Police sent 12 policewomen and were also accompanied by 2 retired policewomen, Inspector General of Police (P) Juansih, Inspector General of Police (P) Apriastini Bakti and also accompanied by Chief of Gassus Ro Binkar SSDM Polri, Kombes Pol. Hendra Wirawan.

Central Java Police sent 2 participants namely Central Java Police Chief Dokkes Kombes Pol Sumy Hastry Purwanti and Magelang City Police Chief AKBP Yolanda Evalyn Sebayang.

Chief of Dokkes Polda Central Java, Kombes Pol Sumy Hastry Purwanti revealed that the conference focused on building relationships, building strength and also how to lead.

“The focus of the discussion at this conference is on how female police officers around the world work together to build relationships, so that they have connections and develop common strengths related to improving their professional abilities in the technical exercise of their functions and to implement them in the face of the challenges of their duties and responsibilities. They also manage themselves and their personal lives”, explained the policewoman, forensic expert.

He added that the most important thing for this to happen is how female police lead. The conference also discussed how to build equality and diversity in police organizations with the aim of respecting each other in order to create an inclusive environment where all individuals feel respected, valued and able to develop their unique talents.

“This conference discusses how female police officers around the world carry out their duties in real terms by providing case studies related to investigations and other duties that are juxtaposed with how to use technology in these tasks,” said three-ranked female police officer Jasmine.

In addition, each member of the police has challenges to face in the performance of their duties, so it is necessary to know how to manage them. Good physical and mental health can be achieved with the simple things of exercising daily, eating healthy foods, getting enough sleep, and most importantly, loving yourself.

“The policewomen also discussed how to develop their own ability to recover from a stressful situation and how to adapt and survive these conditions by finding purpose in life, being confident and optimistic about their abilities. , building a strong support system, being able to accept all changes and always able to take care of yourself and the ability to always actively seek solutions and not give up easily in the face of anything. to try and try again,” Sumy Hastry said.

Hastry also added that each IAWP conference also gives awards to female police officers who are selected and who have successfully carried out their duties with innovation and perseverance in providing the best service to the community.

“The award is not only given to women police officers, but also to men who support the task of women police officers with the “he for her” support system program, not only when women support women, but also how each man is able to provide support to women to work in his career as a sponsor and mentor,” he said.
