“But we are very, firmly united on this,” he told reporters during a press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw, Poland.
“Vladimir Putin made a big mistake. He will lose this war…because of the ferocity, strength and determination of the people Ukraine defending their territory inspires us all,” said Trudeau.
“And because of our determination as friends and allies – friends of Ukraine, allies of each other – and countries committed to democracy, to the rule of law, to the UN charter, we we cannot allow Vladimir Putin to succeed,” he added.
“We regret all new threats that Russia continues to make, but Putin must know that the consequences of his actions will be severe and that further escalation on his part, further attacks on civilians…will elicit the strongest response harsh both globally and individually against him,” the Canadian leader said.
