TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian mixed doubles Dejan Ferdinansyah / Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja have successfully entered the final round of the tournament badminton Indonesia International Challenge (IIC) 2022 in Malang City, East Java on Saturday after performing well in the semi-finals.
Dejan/Gloria in the semi-finals, they beat another Indonesian pair, Ghana Muhammad Al Ilham/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil with a score of 21-14 and 21-14.
“For today the game is depending on what we want. There are no difficulties, the rest can be more focused,” Gloria said.

Gloria added that in the finals, she and Dejan will face Chinese pair Jiang Zhen Bang/Wei Ya Xin. The meeting was the first time for these players.
“We are still maintaining the condition, concentrating and getting enough rest. We will communicate, including with the coach,” he added.
While Dejan added, in the game against Ghana/Indah, especially in the second set, he and Gloria had lost focus despite having a long lead. However, in the end the mistake was corrected and won the match in straight sets.
“We were chased because our concentration was disturbed, because there was already a big difference, so we lowered our concentration a bit. But in the end, we increased our concentration again and won the match,” said- he declared.
Dejan/Gloria are the first Indonesian representatives to enter the final round of IIC 2022. Other Indonesian representatives namely mixed doubles pair Akbar Bintang Cahyono/Marsheilla Gischa Islami lost to Chinese pair 11- 21 and 13-21.
In the tournament which took place from October 11 to 16, 238 athletes from 13 countries participated. International level players include Austria, Canada, China, Estonia, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and America.
In this badminton tournament with a prize of 15,000 US dollars, 132 players from abroad participated and the rest from inside the country.
