Australian soldiers join dozens of countries for Exercise Garuda Shield in Baturaja

According to him, up to 90 Australian soldiers will take part in the exercise, focusing on combined arms interoperability through opportunities to train with the Indonesian military, and of course, strengthening bilateral military ties between Australia and Indonesia.

“An infantry company from the 5th Battalion, 1st Combat Brigade in Darwin, as well as observers from the Special Operations Command and Combat Training Center will participate in this exercise,” he said.

Joint Joint Exercise (Latgabma) Super Garuda Shield 2022 is known to have taken place at Widya Daya Yudha Field, Puslapur Kodiklat, East OKU Regency.

The Latgbma activity, attended by thousands of military personnel from 13 countries, was opened by the Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), General Andika Perkasa, in conjunction with the General Commander of the United States Army Pacific , General Charles Flynn.

South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru said the activities in which soldiers from 13 countries participated had a good impact on the economy.

“With the presence of soldiers from 13 countries, it creates a new spirit for the revival of the economy here, including the development that the TNI commander is paying attention to,” he said.

TNI Commander Andika Perkasa hopes that this activity can strengthen the relations between the countries so that it will later be useful to the community.

“Where we practice, it can strengthen relationships so that the friendship continues until we practice and benefit society,” he said.

He added that joint exercises with the Super Garuda Shield 2022 were held from August 1 to August 14, 2022 at three different locations, namely Baturaja Combat Training Center, Dabo Marine Combat Training Center Singkep and Amborawang Combat Training Center. .

“The countries concerned are the United States, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Papua New Guinea, South Korea, India, Timor Leste, Canada, France and the Kingdom United,” he said.
