Based on this distribution, more case reports of monkeypox have been found in non-endemic countries for monkeypox. In detail, 40,971 cases have been reported from non-endemic countries and only 387 cases have been reported from monkeypox endemic countries.

The United States is still the country with the highest number of reported cases of monkeypox, with a total of 14,594 cases and 0 deaths.

In second place is Spain with 5,792 cases, followed by Brazil with 3,359 cases, Germany with 3,266 cases and England with 3,081 cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) also declared the monkeypox outbreak a public health emergency of international concern on July 23, 2022.

This determination should be the first gateway to increasing global cooperation to stop the spread of the monkeypox virus.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Health announced on Saturday (20/8/2022) the first case of monkeypox in the country. A 27-year-old man from DKI Jakarta has been confirmed to have contracted the virus from 23 suspected cases.
