Acting Director General of Civil Aviation Maria Kristi Endah Murni said ground checking is an important process to ensure air travel safety. “Given the frequency before Christmas and the New Year flight will increase more than usual,” he said in a statement written on Friday, December 9, 2022.

Based on existing data, the number of passengers transportation during the Christmas and New Year holidays, it is expected to reach 3.62 million passengers, which is 52.7% more than last year. The increase in passenger numbers was due to the absence of mobility restrictions during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.

“Aircraft inspections are carried out to verify compliance with standards and regulations set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), which are carried out on a scheduled basis by a team of inspectors from the Airworthiness Branch and of Aircraft Operations (DKPPU).” he said.

Kristi said that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (Ditjen Hubud) carried out inspections of aircraft that were currently registered and had operating certificates or were called Air Operator Certificates (AOC). “As of November 2022, the aircraft in working order were 367 aircraft on AOC 121 and 223 aircraft on AOC 135. These aircraft are ready to meet the needs of the community during Nataru’s vacation,” he said. he declares.

For information, the AOC 121 is a certificate issued to aircraft with a capacity of more than 30 seats. The AOC 135, on the other hand, is a certificate issued to aircraft with a capacity of less than 30 seats.

Kristi said that during the Christmas and New Year holidays, her party would conduct scheduled ground checks at 38 airports in Indonesia. From December 21, 2022 to January 2, 2023 which will be carried out by a team from the DKPPU and the Airport Authority Office (OBU) from region I to region X.

“We will also continue to coordinate with airport administrators and airlines regarding this ground check to ensure smooth operation and improve compliance with flight safety aspects during the upcoming Nataru holiday,” said Kristi said.
