10 people killed and 15 injured, perpetrators still at large



The information was confirmed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) on Sunday afternoon (4/9) local time, warning that the suspects who had not been caught were armed and dangerous.

“We have found 10 deceased people at 13 locations in the Cree Nation communities of James Smith and Weldon, Saskatchewan,” RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore said. AFPMonday (5/9).



“Several additional victims were injured, 15 of whom have at this stage been transported to various hospitals,” he said, noting that there may be other injuries in the incident.

“We believe some of the victims were targeted, while others were randomly attacked,” Blackmore added.

Saskatchewan authorities identified the two suspects and their vehicle, and since they were at large, emergency alerts were extended to the rest of the province.

“As the suspects remain at large, we have also requested that the vigilance be extended to Manitoba and Alberta,” the RCMP said.

“At the moment, we have no indication that they have traveled to other provinces,” he continued.

While the hunt continues, authorities are urging the public not to leave safe areas, not approach suspicious strangers or go for walks, and to report any suspicious activity to authorities.
